Lady in Lace!

Hey my Sweet Sunshines!
Today I bring, yet another daily look from none other than Dailylook. Spring, as they say, has almost sprung! If you need a little inspiration for what to wear this season, then look no further!

The daisy lace dress is sweet but sexy with the sheer waist, a simple way to show a little skin  and the lace adds that touch of texture. Nude pumps are a must have and a great for elongating your legs, making you that touch more desirable. Although simple, the nude envelope clutch adds a hint of classy, but also keeps the look from being overly-formal. The mint necklace and pastel bracelets are a fun little touch that give the outfit that Spring vibe.

Stay Beautiful

Spice Up your Room! Knock Knock

My first Spice Up your Room! was a big hit with you guys, so I second episode of this series! I'm guessing you're  little baffled by the title, but this post is all about door knobs! Yes, door knobs! Let's get right into it...

The easiest and cheapest way to revamp your room is by repurposing what you already own or making over thrifty find. To give a little edge and character and touch of vintage, I gave my chest of drawers a whole new makeover, in less that $100 and it looks like something straight out of a magazine! You can usually score a chest of drawers cheap at a flea market or yard sale.

After paying a visit to my local hardware store, where I  picked out the perfect cream shade, I geared up and got messy! I painted the chest in a few coats, until the coverage was even. The I waited, and waited, and blogged...Then I pulled out my knobs! I purchased mine at Anthropologie, which is one of decor inspirations! I understand that it is a little pricey, a stretches my budget, as each knob was $12 and I needed 6(!), the the final product is finally worth it! With the help of a screwdriver and a trusty old brother, we was done in a matter of an hour!

Style Scoop:The Art of Contrast

One of the trends to hit the runways for Spring is black and white, especially the Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors and Mochino runways. And I here to bring some inspiration into your wardrobe!

Not only does this look incorporate the bold black and white trend, but it also has a little peplum flair of the dress that accentuates your waist. Sexy, but sophisticated. That's what I think of this look. The ankle strap heels are a subtle sexy with a thick platform that makes you even taller, working with the shortness of the dress to visually elongate your legs. The shoulder detailing of the dress compensates for the lack of jewelry but also draws away from the femininity of the peplum. (another example of Peplum with a Twist!) The bag is a classic piece and the color scheme of black and white adds sophistication. (I'm still on the hunt for the name of this style of bag- comment below if you know!) And well, the scarf, is a finishing touch that makes the outfit look less put together and also brings some of your personality outside! "Wear your personality like an accessory"!

Let's just make it clear- I'm obsessed with this dress- seriously OBSESSED(sorry, I didn't mean to shout). Trust me, I love it so much that I ordered it off dailylook the second I saw it and it's arriving in 1 week!! I love the way this outfit, the dress in particular, has the feminine look of the lace but the white on black takes away from the femininity and gives the dress a glam vibe instead. In addition, the grey is a great transition color (and the only) for black and white. And, I know that this isn't completely black and white, but it's so gorgeous and anyway, it incorporates the trend into it. Elongating your legs doesn't always have to involve nude pumps and a short dress- even just wearing tight and pumps or boots of the same color can make your legs look visually longer. The quilting clutch adds a little texture and makes the look complete.

Did these outfits inspire you for Spring?

Style Scoop: Printed Shorts!

Recently, I blogged about some style resolutions for 2013, (you can check out that post) but the one I talked about in particular was bold prints and guess what! I found these awesome pics on The Iconic, and although they're all short and it's the dead middle of Winter, well I just couldn't resist! So let's jump straight into it!

In the eyes of a fashionista, this outfit actually works really well. Evidently, the reptile skin shorts are the focus of attention, and the bag and the top compliment the shorts perfectly and do not fight for attention. Even though it's the middle of Winter, I swear I will strut around in these gorgeous shorts, that's how much I love them, enough said! The bright coral top really brings a touch of Summer into the outfit and also adds that much needed pop of color. The bag adds to the sophisticated look of the shorts, and although it doesn't look like it, actually is the piece that makes this outfit work. The espresso brown satchel draws in the brown tones of the shorts, and the fact that it is a solid color flatters the top, and links it to the shorts. So, basically the bag links together the outfit and makes it a balanced look of fun, bright but sophisticated and a little daring!

My first impression of the outfit, was that it's alright. After a little pondering, I actually came to really like it. And to tell you the truth, the daring part of it is not the leopard print shorts, but the fact that it is paired with the (almost) tribal neckline of the top. There's not much I can say about the outfit by separate pieces, but rather as a whole. The teal sandals with the gold detailing along with the bangles, compliment the earth tones of the shorts and there's a hint of gold in the the neckline. See what  a difference accessories can make! The bright orange in the top and the teal is a subtle example of color blocking. The neckline also draws the up to that beautiful face of yours :D and keeps the look balanced.

This is one for the girly girl inside all of us! I love the color blocking in this outfit! The mint top and coral necklace are my absolute favorite combination! I almost squealed when I saw this! The shorts adds the bright cheerful touch to the look and makes it perfect for summer. Although, honestly, I don't think black sandal were the best choice. In my opinion and lighter color like a cream or beige, or even a coral, or really any of the colors in the shorts, would've worked great.

This outfit brings me back to my teen years. The tie-dye is bright and reminds me of the beach and blue bottles (I don't think that's a very good thing...). The magenta (ish) shoes are something i would've dream of when I was a teenager. They scream all the glories of summer, and are still stylish, chic and in trend. And well, the top, well that's just a fun piece. But what the look is missing, is some kind of jewelry. The easiest way to add color to any outfit is arm candy! Bright colorful bracelets will be a finishing touch that makes the outfit look more complete, in an unintentional- looking way, if you know what I mean.

What's your favorite outfit?

5 tips for Luscious Hair this Winter!

Not only does Winter cold dry out our skin, it also drys out our hair and scalp, leaving your locks dry, dull and frizzy. So, I'm here with some hair saving tips to keep your locks soft, hydrated and frizz-free this Winter!

1. Skip a Shampoo or Two!
Shampooing everyday is not only unnecessary, but it can be damaging, especially for the scalp. Washing your hair frequently strips your hair of natural oils that keep your scalp hydrated and promotes new hair growth. However, if you have any excess oils, opt for a dry shampoo that is a little less harsh on your hair. So, skip a wash  (or two) to allow sebum - hair's natural conditioner- to kick in and give a natural shine to your hair.

2. Switch up your Shampoo
A once a week shampoo switch up can really do wonders for your hair. And why you ask? Well, switching up your shampoo every once in a while will mix and build up a different dose of ingredients for your hair. Mixing up a super- hydrating shampoo and one that imparts shine will really make your hair luscious.

3. Use Leave in Conditioner
It's all about moisture, so opting for a leave in conditioner will do just the job! As well as offering massive hydration, a leave in conditioner will enhance your natural texture- 2 in 1! Any serum will replenish your hair with oils and will really treat your scalp- where most of the damage is- and will also give your hair silky nourishment and moisture.

4. Cap it off!
When spending time outdoors, wear a hat to help retain your scalp's moisture level. a wool fedora or knit beret will protect your hair, retain your body's heat and give you style points to boot!

5. Colder, Shorter Showers
I've mentioned this tip in one of my skincare posts, but limit your showers to 10 minutes and cranking down the heat will stop from drying out you and your hair!

Glitz And Glamour!

Hello!
This outfit was inspired by the Diamond Jacquard Blazer From Topshop. I incorporated it with a style that I've spotted out and about and am willing to try for myself. Blazers with dresses is a great way to transition dresses from Summer and Spring to Fall and Winter, so you can enjoy your favorite pieces all throughout the year!

The blazer not only transitions the dress, but gives it a structure and form. The dress is a classic piece that can easily be worn with anything, while still looking stylish. The pink tote is a fun little accent from Topshop's Debutante collection, as well as adding color and a girly touch to the (almost) masculine blazer, and draws in with the lace detailing of the dress.  The Micheal Kors Rose Gold Watch is a clever way to style the silver button and gold detailing of the tote bag, and paired with the bangles, creates another trend, arm candy. In addition to adding a little glamour to the look, the owl necklace's black, beady eyes ties in with the black of the blazer but the 'feathers' amplify the cream and gold tones of the dfress and bag, all in all, it's a win win situation!

Spring Bling!

Hey There!
This image is one of Daily Look's dailylooks (:D). This outfit just screams spring-The bright yellow knit cardigan, fun patterned scarf and simple and sweet dress-  although we're a long way off till then!

The bright, yellow croquet cardigan and the pastel pink polka-dot scarf both work together, with the sweet and simple white dress- a must-have for any fashionista!- tone done the look and keep it controlled and still stylish. The skinny brown belt cinches in at the waist, the smallest part of your figure and gives the illusion of curves, tying it all together- literally!. The tall taupe boots are a absolute style piece while being comfortable for a picnic and a stroll around the city. Styled along with it is a gorgeous cream tote that finishes off the look but adds a little classiness, but also compliments the taupe boots, as they are in the same color palette, neutral. And for a hint of glam, is a simple cross necklace.

Overall, this outfit really makes your fashion talent shine!

Talk to you soon, Shoba

Army Gal!

Aloha!
Ah, so careless but beautiful-And that's exactly what I love about this outfit. As a matter of fact, this look is quite daring in it's own unique way. Give your army jacket some attitude by mixing prints. In this case, a classic stripe sweater, a infinity scarf and a military jacket have all been layered, and the bold stripe with the army print adds dimension and style points. The faux leather leggings and combat boots not only add some edge to the look, but tone done the wild prints that dominate the look. In addition, the studded bucket bag adds some color and keep the look from being completely black and white, but the solid color doesn't overwhelm the eye. Overall this is the perfect look for any fashionista still in school, and an easy way to rock the trends!

Ciao, Shoba

Style Scoop! Peplum with a Twist!

The latest trend to hit fashion waves this season is peplum. Peplum tops, jackets and dresses are all the rage this season, and that's why I'm here to give you all the scoop on peplum and how I like to style it!

The Peplum Trend
1. Girly with an Edge!
This outfit is pretty daring in the sense that it takes a super-girly piece and transforms it into an edgy look. the lace peplum top is in itself, a great piece but the ombre jeans take it to a whole new level, while adding dimension and interest to the outfit. The wedges are honestly something I would've changed if I'd done this look. The easiest way to add a little edge to any outfit is to add spikes, any rock girl's best friend, and in this case, it sealed off the look. The easiest way to take an outfit to the next level is buy accessorizing! Accessories are legit the most affordable way to dress up any outfit.

2. Flower Power!
Once again, I come across an outfit which I don't really like, it just isn't my style. The skirt is a really eye-catcher and the look compliments it, without no other opposing patterns. And, I must admit, peplum is one of the easiest ways to add class and sophistication to your look. Adding a little bit of metallic can never be harmful, especially in this case. It makes the outfit look a little more put together without overpowering the peplum skirt.

3. Glam Rock.
This outfit, by far is my favorite! It's just absolute perfection! The frills of the top are higher up than most, a great opportunity for high waisted jeans of shorts, or for a more classy look, a skirt. And wow, the shorts! Think about it, if you took the peplum top and paired it with a floral skirt and some bright accessories, you've got a completely different look. The spikes imply a rocker girl look but the shoes make the look more glam. Here's a quick tip- The chunkier the heels the more rocker girl you look, they oppose girliness.

Which one is you favorite?

A Touch of Glam, a Hint of Metallic and Sparkly Glitter Shoes

Hey my Sunshine!
Collaging has never really been my thing, but when it comes to fashion, well anything is possible! The dress is named Shake Up dress from Cameo, and trust me I fell head over heels for this dress. Personally, I found this dress unique because the detailing is on the arms and makes it quite a stunning piece when paired with right accessories.

So above, I have created two looks, both centered round the dress, literally!(I'm so lame) The outfit on the left, Glam Girl, was actually inspired by the leopard print clutch which adds texture and dimension to the outfit. The reason this dress and the clutch work together is because they are from the same color palette- they both have earth tones in them. The nude tone of the dress and the gold detailing implies a girly style, but by mixing it up created an unexpected twist, I've created a whole new look. In the photograph, the dress has already been paired with a gold choker necklace, which I included in both outfits because, the choker was quite a versatile piece. The ankle booties are gorgeous apart from the fact that the stud detailing was silver, rather than gold. Honestly, I would paint over the studs with gold nail polish, just for this outfit! And to top if off, the classic red lip.
Drama Queen, the look on the right is a little more elegant and not as daring (if you count the union jack clutch with a skull closure as not daring :}). Red and nude is a chic color combination that will never go out of style. The lips and clutch serve as the look's pop of color and the pumps add some texture. The clutch is my favorite accessory, it's cute, stylish and gives you some style points to boot! You can never go wrong with a red lip, it just screams drama queen!

I've got a lot of new things in my online shopping cart!

Graphic Prints and Animal Patterns!

Hola!
The new is a great time to freshen up yourself and your wardrobe! Being a fashion enthusiast, I formed a list of some new fashion trends that I wanted to try for the New Year. Kind of like New Year's Resolutions but not as serious...Back on topic, one of the goals for this year was to be bold and daring, make my clothing say fun and confident! And that's why I wanted o share this pic from H&M that I thought was the perfect example for the daring and statement style that I'm going for this year. And hopefully, along the way I inspire some of you to get out of your comfort zone, that's were fashion really starts!

When I saw this collage for the first time, immediately (literally, immediately) some ideas popped to mind and  I seriously ran to my nearest store and tried on everything! Animal and graphic prints have always scared me and I always thought that they could never be tamed! But despite this, I still bought a few pieces, which in a way made me feel more confident.

I fell head over heels for the animal print jeans, blazer and the peplum shirt, with peplum trending right now. To my surprise, the dress in the top right I actually really flattering and the stripes makes me look slimmer and my waist, smaller. What's more, I even ending up buying it along with the blazer, graphic jeans and the peplum. What I love about the peplum shirt is that it is a really versatile piece. Not only does the peplum add style and sophistication, but the print gives it that playful and daring approach. It can be easily transitioned into a day or night look and formal or informal. The jeans were a great fit and really added that finishing touch to any basic outfit. And well the blazer..is just crazy! (which why I bought it).

I smile as I write this and hopefully I have inspired some of you guys to step  of your comfort zone!
That's all for now, my little poppets!
Love, Shoba

What's your Style?

Spice up your Room! DIY Photo Display

Hey my sunshine!
So, as of today, I'm going to start a new series called Spice up your Room- Creative name right? *sarcasm*. Basically, I'm going to post ideas to freshen up your room. Some will be DIY, and some will not.
So with out further ado, here's the first in the series, a DIY photo display!

What you will need:
Photo Frame
Paint in a color of your choice
Paint Brush
Heavy Duty tape or a Hot Glue Gun
Wire
Small Clothes Pegs

Steps:
1. Remove the backing and the glass from the photo frame so that the frame only remains.
2. Paint the frame- the back doesn't have to be painted.
3. Measure Wire to fit across the frame horizontally and cut, leaving a inch on either side.
4. Flip the frame over, so you are looking at the back,
5. Lay out pieces of wire, using a photograph as a guide to make sure the wire pieces are evenly spread out.
6. Secure each piece of wire at the ends with heavy duty tape or a hot glue gun.
7. Ensure that the tape/glue is concealed beneath the edges of the frame.
8. Pop on the small clothes pegs...and you're done!
9. All you need to do is find a few photos that you want to display in your new stylish display!

This project literally cost me 15 dollars- I only had to buy paint, pegs and wire and it honestly takes 15 minutes, not including time for paint to dry.

Did you like the idea? Comment below. The next project will come up in te next week!

Picking the Right Moisturizer!

No matter how oily or dry, sensitive or not, moisturizer is essential for all skin types. The question that I get asked most is "Does oily skin need moisturizer?'' Well, of course it does! "Just because you have oily skin, though, doesn't mean your skin is hydrated"says Rouleau "If you don't use the right moisturizer, your skin will just produce more oil to overcompensate for being dehydrated" So, in other words, skin needs both natural oils and water to be healthy.

Oily and dry skin are the two main skin types out there, so that's exactly what I'm going to talk about today. Dry skin types should opt for ingredients that repair the lipid moisture barrier in the skin and prevent transepidermal water loss. Any lotion with jojoba oil. borage oil, sweet almond oil and ceramides will work great for dry skin. As for people with oily or acne-prone skin, you should look out for sodium hyaluronate, cucumber fruit extract and mallow flower extract.

Here's a great tip when trying out new moisturizers. This check only takes 5 minutes and you could even do it in the store with any samples of moisturizer you receive. Apply moisturizer on your face, and if after five minutes, you can still feel it, well then it's too heavy for your face.

What are your thoughts and tips? Comment below!

Good luck, in finding the right moisturizer!

DIY Ombre Dress!

Hola!
After surfing the net for the perfect for New Year's Eve, on a budget, (I had blown all my saving on shoes), I came across this DIY on stylehaul, and I went for it!
Got that white out of style dress lying around in your closet, collecting dust? Ombre dress, here I come!

What you will need
1 packet of Dye
1 wooden spoon
Pair of Gloves- turns out your hands...ombreable!
A white dress, that your willing to ombre!
Any unwanted tea towel
And while, you're at it you might as well where any clothes that you don't mind if they get splashed.

Steps
1. To avoid ombred hands, put on a pair of gloves
2. Pour dye in one bucket of water and mix well.
3. Twist your dress in a wringing motion.
4. Place the bottom of the dress in the dye and leave it for 45 minutes.
5. Push the dress in further so that the middle section is in the dye.
6.Dye the middle for 15 minutes.
7. Put the rest of the dress in dye and dye for literally one second- dip in, take out.
8. Wring out the dress with the help of a unwanted tea towel
9. Pop it into the other bucket with water and rinse it.
10. Toss it into the washing machine, and rinse out on a cold wash- dyed clothes do not go well with others, so make sure it's the only thing in the washing machine.
